Eight people arrested on charges of gang-raping two minor girls in Khowai district of Tripura were sent on four days police custody by a special POCSO court on Wednesday.
The shocking incident was reported on Monday, during Holi celebrations from Khatia basti under Champahour Police station. Reportedly, the two minor girls were out for a motorbike ride with two boys.
Subsequently, Champahour Police arrested 8 accused persons who were allegedly involved in the case, all from Phultali.
Case number 14/ 2021 was registered in Champahour police station under section 341/ 376 (D), 506 and POCSO Act.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Jaggu Debbarma, Bimal Debbarma, Mikel Debbarma, Rishita Debbarma, Bikash Debbarma, Nitesh Debbarma, Jewel Debbarma and Biresh Debbarma all from Phultali.
Meanwhile, medical treatment has been arranged for the two victims. One of the victims in serious condition has been referred to GB Pant Hospital for further treatment.
Furthermore, investigation into the case is underway.
