Ahead of the Assam assembly elections, Former Sahitya Sabha president Paramananda Rajbongshi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday.
Rajbongshi joined the BJP at its state headquarters in presence of state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Rajya Sabha MP Bhubaneswar Kalita, Lok Sabha MP Pallab Lochan Das and other top leaders.
The former Assam Sahitya Sabha president who had joined AGP in November, 2020 is likely to contest elections from Sipajahar on a BJP ticket.
“I have taken this decision with the consent of the AGP and BJP leadership,” said Rajbongshi.
On the other hand, Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) general secretary Rupesh Gowala also joined the saffron party in the same event.
