Following the indefinite taxi strike called by the Meghalaya Joint Action Committee of Commercial Vehicles or MJACCV, the district administration held a meeting on Thursday with various taxi associations in the state.
Talking to newsmen, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo informed that she met various taxi associations in Shillong to discuss the current strike called by the Meghalaya Joint Action Committee of Commercial Vehicles.
Laloo also mentioned that the point of focus was on the increase in taxi fares. She said that many in the taxi association were not aware that the Govt had already come out with revised rates of the taxi fare for the taxis plying in the city.
The DC further informed that the district administration shared the revised rates with the taxi association for proper review and the taxi association will also be meeting with the District Transport Officer. She also stated that after reviewing their demands anything that is reasonable and important will be sent to the Govt for approval.
Laloo also informed that the new rates won’t come up immediately but will be closely considered and forwarded to the Govt.
