The Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles has recovered 50 bags of areca nuts from General Area Tlangsam in Mizoram on Wednesday.

Based on specific information, the operation was carried out by a team of Assam Rifles and the Customs Preventive Force in Champhai district.

It is estimated that the approximate cost of the recovered areca nuts is Rs 7 lakh.

The Customs Preventive Force Champhai District later seized the contraband item and detained one individual in connection with the case.
