Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday made it clear that Lahkmen Rymbui will not be removed from the post of State home minister.

The Chief Minister said this in response to coalition partner BJP demanding Rymbui’s resignation for allegedly failing to curb illegal coal mining and transportation in the State.

Sangma added that such a decision cannot be taken merely on the basis of opinion expressed by a political party.

“That is the opinion of the political party and I don’t have anything to say on that but there is no question of dropping Mr Lahkmen Rymbui,” he said.

Conrad Sangma said that a certain section of leaders in the BJP unit are making such demands and it does not reflect the stand and views of the entire party. He said that 90 percent of the BJP leaders are working in close coordination with the MDA.
