Tripura is all set to get its first road made of plastic waste by the end of this month, almost two years after Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb asked the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) to construct a road using plastic waste materials.

In July 2018, during a review meeting, Chief Minister Biplab Deb had asked municipality officials to construct at least 500 metres of a road using waste plastic to reduce pollution.

The construction of drainage and footpath is funded by the smart city project

The work from Women’s College to BK Road is nearing completion, said Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, CEO Smart City Agartala.
