Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday chaired the 69th plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Union Minister for the Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh received the home minister at the helipad in Upper Shillong.

Meanwhile, CM Conrad Sangma took to Twitter to thank Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister Jitendra Singh for attending the plenary meet.

“Thank Hon’ble Home Minister @AmitShah Ji & Hon’ble Union MoS Sh. @DrJitendraSingh Ji for their presence at the 69th @NEC_GoI Plenary,” Sangma tweeted.

“As mentioned by Hon’ble MoS, #NorthEast is the New Engine of #India & we will continue to work collectively under PM @narendramodi Ji’s leadership,” the chief minister added.

A large number of state and Central officials are attending the two-day meet.

At the plenary, various developmental projects are being reviewed, and future plans for the Northeast are being taken up, the officials said.
