NE’s largest, 600 MW Hydro power plant of NEEPCO synchronizes its last unit

North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) has successfully synchronized the fourth generating unit of 150 MW (unit-4) of its mega 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Plant with the grid
North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) has successfully synchronized the fourth generating unit of 150 MW (unit-4) of its mega 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Plant with the grid on January 19.
Unit 1 and 2 of 150 MW each was commissioned earlier last year in the month of June, July respectively and the third generating unit in January this year.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu taking to Twitter thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Power Minister RK Singh for their immense support and congratulated the team members of NEEPCO.
“All the 4 units of Kameng HE Project is Synchronised with Grid & is fully Commissioned. With this Arunachal has added another 600 MW in Power sector. Thank you Honble PM Sh Narendra Modi ji & Min Power Sh RK Singh ji for the immense support. Congratulations to all team members,” Khandu tweeted.

The power plant is the largest hydropower plant commissioned in the Northeast so far, with this Arunachal Pradesh has added another 600 MW in its power sector.
The mega plant will completely change the power scenario of the North East and will also supply reliable and flexible Hydropower for crucial balancing of solar and wind power in the grid. Apart from many North-Eastern states, Haryana, UP, and Nepal are other power purchasers from the plant.
