After almost two weeks of relentless firefighting, the raging wildfire at the Dzuko Range on the Manipur side has been brought under control on Friday.
With concerted efforts from the first responders, the local volunteers from the nearby Mao villages, the Manipur Fire Services, Manipur Police, SDRF, NDRF and air support from the IAF, the wildfire has been contained.
However, the situation is still unpredictable due to strong wind currents and some tiny rings of smoke still visible on the Western side of Mount Esii.
Meanwhile, reviewing the situation, the firefighting team comprising of NDRF, SDRF, Manipur Police and local volunteers continues to hold at their respective camp placed at the base of Mount Esii.
It may be mentioned that the unfortunate wildfire started on December 29, 2020. Manipur Chief Minister on December 31 conducted an extensive arial survey of the catastrophe and sent additional support.
