Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari on Wednesday has been sworn in as the 21st Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.
Governor Ganga Prasad administered the oath of office to the new Chief Justice in a glittering ceremony at Raj Bhavan.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, cabinet ministers and Judges of the High Court of Sikkim among other officials of the state government were present at the swearing-in ceremony.
Chief Justice Maheshwari took charge of his incumbent Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, who was transferred to Andhra Pradesh High Court.
It may be mentioned that Jitendra Kumar Maheswari served in Madhya Pradesh High Court till September 2019 and was later transferred to Andhra Pradesh High Court, where he served as Chief Justice till December.
