Union Home Minister Amit Shah will land in Guwahati on Friday night for his three-day Northeast visit. Shah is scheduled to visit Assam and Manipur from Saturday and inaugurate a slew of new projects in both the northeastern states.
Briefing newspersons, State Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Union Home Minister will arrive at the Lokapriya Gopinath Nath Bordoloi International airport at around 11 PM.
Amit Shah will get a grand welcome at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. 3,000 community artists will be performing at the Home Minister’s welcome event and 10,000 earthen lamps will also be lit from Borjhar to National Highway, Sarma said.
Shah will take part in a series of official programs including handing over of financial grants to nearly 8,000 Namghars or traditional Vaishnavite monasteries under the Assam Darshan program.
The Union Home Minister will also lay the foundation for a new medical college in Guwahati and nine law colleges to be set up across the state.

However, the NEDA convenor said that the issue of Congress leaders jumping ship would be discussed in the BJP’s core committee meeting tomorrow.
Several top Congress leaders are likely to quit party and join the BJP. The names of leaders doing the rounds include former three-time minister and Golaghat MLA Ajanta Neog.
