Arunachal: Polling to be held for local body elections in 1,843 seats; 6,500 declared elected unopposed

A total of 6,500 seats have been declared elected unopposed, out of the total 8,475 seats for Gram Panchayat and Zila Parishad in the two-tier Panchayat system in Arunachal Pradesh.

A total of 6,500 seats have been declared elected unopposed, out of the total 8,475 seats for Gram Panchayat and Zila Parishad in the two-tier Panchayat system in Arunachal Pradesh.

The contest will be held for only 1,843 seats. Polling will be held in 1,702 Gram Panchayat seats and 141 Zila Parishad constituencies.

The polling for Panchayat and both the Municipal bodies will be held simultaneously in a single phase on December 22.

Meanwhile, elections for 110 GP seats will not be held due to single nomination rejection or due to no candidature.

EVMs will be used for elections to the two civic bodies – Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) and Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) and ballot papers for the Panchayats.
