The Meghalaya government has deferred the opening of the much-awaited entry and exit point at Umling till December 21. The entry and exit point at Umling was slated to become operational from today.
Informing this, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the decision to defer the opening was made keeping in mind the fact that the state reopens for tourists from December 21. Hence the same day has been fixed for operationalising the Umling entry and exit point.
“We changed the date of entry for people. Entry points will be fully operationalized from Dec 21 and I am going to inaugurate it at 09:30 AM on Monday. People coming for tourism purposes, business purposes or any other reason can visit Meghalaya if they meet all the required criteria,” said Prestone Tynsong.
On the other hand, at the facilitation centre in Umling permanent residents of Meghalaya are only required to produce Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) or any other document proving that they are residents of the state.
