The MLA of North Karimganj constituency in Assam, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha on Tuesday met Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and stressed on the need to maintain communal harmony between the Khasi and the Bengali community staying in Shillong.
The MLA met the Chief Minister and advocated him on the need to ensure peace and tranquility.
The MLA further assured that both Assam and Meghalaya would work united to resolve all the issues. In addition, the MLA also assured the safety of all the Khasi community people living in his constituency.
Meanwhile, on being asked about the implementation of ILP in the state of Meghalaya, the Chief Minister said that ILP has not been implemented in Meghalaya as of now.
It needs to be mentioned that the assurance of the MLA came after Hmar People’s Convention threatened the local Khasi community staying in Cachar.
