Police recovered remains of a human corpse along with a rope in the forest near Vokbual in Singngat sub-division of Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Wednesday.
Apart from a few bones, a bag, an umbrella and some clothes were recovered from the site.
Upon searching, it was learnt that the human remains belonged to a 65-year-old. He has been identified as L Mangkhogen.
Police said that as per initial investigation, wild animals seem to have eaten away the body after the rope he was hanging from had snapped. Police said they are suspecting it to be a case of suicide.
Meanwhile, further investigations into the matter is underway.
