The Mizoram Home department has issued a statement claiming the school, where the bomb blast took place on Friday, to be in Mizoram territory at Phainuam village near the interstate border with Assam.

A school on the Assam-Mizoram border was blown up, allegedly by the miscreants from Mizoram on Friday night. The attack comes amidst a bitter border dispute between the two states.

Speaking to Northeast Live, DIG for Northern Range of Mizoram – Lalbiakthanga Khiangte, who visited the incident site today said that a case has been filed at the Vairangte Police Station.

He also said that the school was set up by the Assam Government between 2006 and 2010 at a piece of land owned by a person named Thangkhawliana in Phainuam village.

Meanwhile, Silchar ADGP Mukesh Agarwala visited the Paionam LP school at Lailapur in Assam’s Cachar district where miscreants bombed the school building.

Taking stock of the situation, ADGP Agarwala said that the matter is being taken very seriously and that probe into the matter is still on.
