Mizoram Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Pu K. Lalrinliana received three trucks carrying LPG from Manipur which reached Aizawl on Thursday evening.
The trucks were a part of the State government’s initiative to bring supplies from neighbouring states due to the economic blockade at the inter-state border with Assam.
Speaking on the occasion, Lalrinliana stressed that the State government will send more trucks to bring LPG and petroleum from Manipur. The next convoy of LPG trucks and tankers will be sent shortly again, he added.
He mentioned that the series of events which unfolded has united all sections of Mizo society and the larger Zo brethren living outside the state.
The Minister also expressed his gratitude to Churches, NGOs, students’ bodies in Manipur and Mizoram for their goodwill and IOCL and the Manipur Government for the help rendered in getting the supplies lifted from Sekmai Bottling Plant in Manipur.
Praising the efforts of the truck drivers, he said that the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Zoramthanga is exploring all options for bringing in supplies from other neighbouring states and even from neighbouring countries.
Five tankers, which were a part of the supply convoy are en-route from Manipur and are expected to reach Aizawl later today.
