Assam Health, Finance and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Caisson Foundation No. PY-2 of the seventh bridge between Guwahati and North Guwahati over the mighty Brahmaputra river.

The 8.3 km long bridge will be built at a cost of Rs. 2,600 crore. It will be completed by August, 2023.

Taking to Twitter after the launch, Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his happiness on the launch of the 8.3 km long bridge and extended his best wishes to the State Public Works Department.

“Pleased to be present today at the launch of Caisson Foundation No. PY-2 of 7th bridge across the mighty #Brahmaputra connecting #Guwahati & North Guwahati. The 8.3 km long bridge shall be built at Rs 2600 cr. It shall be completed by Aug 2023. Best wishes to #AssamPWD,” Sarma tweeted.

In another tweet, Sarma further said that the bridge will be vital for the region as it will boost the economic growth of Assam and its adjoining states and will reduce travel time.

“The bridge will be vital for North East as it will boost the economic growth of #Assam & adjoining states. It will reduce travel time from Guwahati to North Guwahati & connecting NH-31 junction to just 10 minutes, as against 45-60 minutes that it takes to travel now,” he added.
