BJP may field more women candidates in upcoming Assam assembly polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning to field more women candidates in the upcoming 2021 Assam Assembly elections. This was asserted by state BJP Mahila Morcha president Aparajita Bhuyan.

The state BJP Mahila Morcha will be holding its first state executive meeting on October 10 and 11 at the Chowkidingee Field in Dibrugarh.

BJP general secretary and Mangaldoi MP Dilip Saikia including Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister Rameswar Teli, health and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam BJP chief Ranjit Dass among others will take part in the event.

Talking to Northeast Live, Bhuyan said that Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani will address the State Executive meeting on Saturday via video conferencing.
