The Modi government in the Centre and the Sonowal Government in Assam are committed to implement the Clause 6 of the Assam Accord. This was stated by BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav.
Ram Madhav’s statement comes just a day after a major row erupted following revelation by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy in the Parliament that the Assam Government is examining the Clause 6 report.
Speaking on the matter, Ram Madhav slammed the previous governments saying that none in power earlier had initiated any process to implement the Clause 6.
He said that unlike previous governments the BJP governments both in the Centre and the State are committed to safeguard the culture and identity of Assam.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Congress lambasted the Centre and the State government saying that both the Governments are trying to hide the status of the report.
Questioning the sincerity of the Assam government and the Centre on the issue, the Assam Congress leaders said both are deliberately sending out misleading signals on the status of the report.
