The Pema Khandu-led government in the state has passed the resolution in the assembly on Thursday to bring whole of the frontier state under the ambit of 6th Schedule of the Constitution.
The 5th session of 7th Legislative Assembly which began this morning saw the passage of the resolution. The resolution will now be forwarded to the Centre.
The 3-day session was curtailed to an one-day affair due to the pandemic.
It may be mentioned that the 6th Schedule, besides giving considerable autonomy to the indigenous community, empowers the state to enact laws for land protection.
The decision to move the resolution was taken by Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a cabinet meet last week.
Home Minister Bamang Felix had informed that the decision was taken after intense discussion with civil society groups and student bodies.
