With easing of COVID-19 induced restrictions under Unlock 3, Guwahati along with other parts of Assam is gradually limping back to normalcy.

In an attempt to bring normal life back into gear, the state government has issued new relaxations and modifications of guidelines which would remain in effect from 5 am of August 16 to 9:30 pm of August 31.

Vehicular movement including city bus service and other public transport resumed operations in Guwahati with 50 per cent capacity, facilitating economic activities and movement of people.

The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has also taken initiatives to resume public transportation after relaxation of lockdown guidelines.

As per the new unlock guidelines, the Assam government has allowed inter-district movement of passenger vehicles between Monday and Friday with 50 per cent capacity. Earlier, inter-district movement was allowed only on Monday and Tuesday.

On the other hand, the restriction on opening of shops on one side of the road has been withdrawn

However, night curfew will remain in force from 9:30 pm to 5 am. Movement of individuals during that period is strictly prohibited.

Despite major relaxations coming into place, the weekend lockdown will continue in the entire State.
