Assam’s COVID-19 tally surges to 55,496 with 2,679 new cases; death toll at 132

With 2,679 fresh cases reported out of 58,531 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 tally in Assam mounted to 55,496 on Friday.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma taking to Twitter informed, “2,679 COVID cases detected out of 58,531 tests in last 24 hrs. Positivity rate continues to be low at 4.57%.”

(Kamrup (M)- 442, Kamrup (R)- 265, Cachar- 250, Nagaon- 172)

On the other hand, six more patients succumbed to the deadly virus on Friday. The state has recorded 132 deaths due to the viral infection.

Continuing with the positive recovery rate, 1,585 more patients were discharged from different hospitals and Covid Care Centres in Assam.

The number of active cases stands at 16,552, while 38,809 persons have recovered so far.
