Assam has reported 1371 more cases of COVID-19, taking the state’s overall tally to 34, 947. The positive cases were detected out of 22,876 tests conducted on Tuesday.
Health minister Himanta Biswa sarma tweeted, “Alert ~ 1371 new #COVID cases detected in Assam out of 22,876 tests done in last 24 hrs. Positivity rate continues to be low at 5.9%. Max~ Kamrup (M) – 295, Kamrup (R)- 221.”
Earlier, 2 more patients succumbed to the infection on Friday. With this the number of deaths in the state increased to 88.
The deceased have been identified as Dulu Rani Sarkar (70) and Hemanta Buragohain (50) from Kamrup Metro. Both the patients were admitted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Meanwhile, 1216 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals and COVID care centres in Assam.
With a total of 26,618 patients discharged till now, the recovery rate in the state rose to 76.2 per cent.
