With persistent threat of COVID-19 spread in Guwahati – the Gateway to the Northeast, more areas in the city have made it to the Containment Zones list with every passing day.

A total of 99 places has been notified as Containment Zones in Guwahati. 19 more Containment Zones have been newly added to the list on June 17.

Biswajit Pegu, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) has directed the Circle Officers of concerned revenue circles to seal the vicinities where people have tested positive for the coronavirus with immediate effect, vide orders, turning them into containment zones as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the area.

So far, a total of 134 areas have been identified as containment zones in Guwahati, out of which status of Containment zone has been withdrawn from 35 areas.
