Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging at his apartment in Mumbai’s Bandra on Sunday.

According to reports, he was suffering from depression and was consulting a psychiatrist for the last six months. The police had also found a few medical reports from his residence.

Sushant’s postmortem was done at Cooper Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai late yesterday. The preliminary postmortem report of Sushant Singh Rajput has now revealed that the cause of the actor’s death was asphyxia due to hanging.

Meanwhile, Sushant Singh Rajput has also tested negative for COVID-19. The last rites of the actor will be performed in Mumbai today.

The Mumbai Police have reportedly ruled out any foul play as the post-mortem report given by doctors states asphyxia due to hanging as the provisional cause of death.

Sushant’s team shared a message for his fans: “It pains us to share that Sushant Singh Rajput is no longer with us. We request his fans to keep him in their thoughts and celebrate his life, and his work like they have done so far. We request media to help us maintain privacy at this moment of grief.”

The small town boy who became popular with his starring role in the television show ‘Pavitra Rishta’ made his entry into films with ‘Kai Po Che!’ in the year 2014. His highest-grossing releases came with a supporting role in the satire ‘PK’, followed by the sports biopic ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ for which he received his first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. The portrayal of former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni in the biopic remained one of the highlights of his career.

The 34-year-old actor was also known best for his performances in films such as ‘Chhichhore’, ‘Kedarnath’ and ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!’. The actor was last seen in Netflix’s Drive. He garnered applause for almost all his films.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among those who condoled the actor’s death. “A bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans,” the PM tweeted.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s death comes days after his former manager Disha Salian reportedly died by suicide. Rajput had tweeted his shock at the news on social media.

Bollywood fraternity to cricketers, everyone expressed their grief after getting the news.

Expressing shock at his death, Anurag Kashyap tweeted, “Wtf .. this is not true.” Akshay Kumar wrote, “Honestly this news has left me shocked and speechless…I remember watching #SushantSinghRajput in Chhichhore and telling my friend Sajid, its producer how much I’d enjoyed the film and wish I’d been a part of it. Such a talented actor…may God give strength to his family.”

Celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone, Anupam Kher, Alia Bhatt and many others also took to social media to share their grief and sorrow over the untimely demise of the versatile actor.

The late Bollywood actor’s last rites will take place at Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai’s Vile Parle on Monday. The late actor’s father and other family members have arrived in Mumbai from Patna in Bihar.
