The COVID-19 tally in Manipur continues to rise as 14 new positive cases have been detected in the state on Saturday evening.

All fresh cases (14 males) were confirmed as coronavirus positive at the VRDL, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).

The individuals who tested positive are from Kangpokpi district and had recently to the state returned from Delhi by train. Their health conditions are reportedly stable and have been shifted to Covid Care facility at JNIMS.

The total number of cases in the state has increased to 157, while the number of active cases stands at 105.

Meanwhile, the state health department has taken up all necessary steps after detection of the fresh cases.

Earlier, 11 persons who returned from Mumbai were detected COVID-19 positive in the state, taking the total tally to 143. Among those who tested positive include 3 individuals from Pherzawl district, while 8 others have tested positive from Churachandpur district.

On the other hand, 11 individuals were discharged from the Regional Insititute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) after their final test results came back negative.

Among those who were discharged include 4 persons from Imphal West district, 2 each from Ukhrul and Thoubal districts and 1 each from Bishnupur, Noney and Tamenglong districts. With this, the total number of recoveries in the state currently stands at 52.
