Three women who recently returned to the state tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram on Thursday, taking the total cases tally to 17.

According to reports, the three women aged 19, 22 and 45 years are from Lunglei, Mamit and Saitual districts of the state. All positive patients are returnees from outside Mizoram.

“The government of Mizoram in its full capacity will ensure the safety of each and everyone who are subjected to risk by this pandemic. This is our moment to stand together as one,” the state’s Chief Minister Zoramthanga tweeted.

Within a week, the state which was declared Covid-free went from no active cases to 16 cases with one recovered. All new cases are stranded natives who returned to the state.

According to information given by DIPR Mizoram, the 3 new COVID-19 cases who were confirmed last night arrived in Bairabi from Delhi by Shramik train on May 31. They were under institutional quarantine at the time of detection and are reportedly asymptomatic.
