The COVID-19 tally in Assam nears 800-mark as 15 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state on Thursday.

Among the fresh cases, 11 cases were detected in Kamrup (Metropolitan), 3 in Dibrugarh and 1 in Lakhimpur.

According to sources, all the cases have surfaced among individuals who were under institutional quarantine after returning to the state from different parts of the nation.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “15 new cases of #COVID19+ reported.”

“11 Kamrup Metro, 3 Dibrugarh, 1 Lakhimpur,” he added.

Meanwhile, the total number of active cases has risen to 704, taking the state’s tally to 798.
