Assam govt provides financial aid to 3,61,170 stranded people outside state

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that 3,61,170 people stranded outside the state due to COVID-19 induced lockdown have been benefited by the financial assistance provided under the Assam

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that 3,61,170 people stranded outside the state due to COVID-19 induced lockdown have been benefited by the financial assistance provided under the Assam Cares initiative by the state government.

Addressing a press meet in Guwahati on Thursday Sarma said, “We released Rs. 72.23 crore to provide Rs. 2000 to the stranded people as the first installment. We are sending the second installment and we are the only state to do so. The third installment will be sent in next month.”

Assam is the only state in the country to provide the second installment to the stranded citizens.

Taking to Twitter, Dr. Sarma stated, “In the second installment of the same, Rs 2000 each will be transferred to bank accounts of remaining beneficiaries on May 22.”

Similarly, the Assam Government is also providing the second installment of Rs. 25 thousand each to the patients suffering from critical diseases and stranded within the country. With the disbursement  of the second installment on may 22, the total number of the beneficiaries will reach 887.
