Fresh COVID-19 case reported in Manipur

A 31-year-old male from Imphal East district who had returned to Manipur from Mumbai with a non-Covid patient has tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. The patient is currently shifted

A 31-year-old male from Imphal East district who had returned to Manipur from Mumbai with a non-Covid patient has tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

The patient is currently shifted to the isolation ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).

With no active cases, the state last month was declared coronavirus free after two positive patients were discharged post recovery. The number of active cases now stands at 1.

As a preparatory arrangement, District Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) and Surveillance Teams have been constituted in all districts, including 40 sub-surveillance teams in each district.

Covid treatment Blocks at JNIMS and RIMS are in readiness. Meanwhile, contact tracing is on.

Earlier on April 19, the state was declared Covid-free after the second patient tested negative.

Manipur’s first COVID-19 case was also the first positive case in the region, a 23-year-old girl who had tested positive in March upon her return from the United Kingdom. She was discharged from the hospital on April 12.
