Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged the citizens of Guwahati to observe restraints amid increasing COVID-19 cases in the city.

“I urge the people of Guwahati to observe restraints. Don’t come out unless it is necessary, wear masks, wash your hands frequently,” said health minister Himanta Biswwa Sarma at a press meet in Guwahati on Thursday evening.

Sarma appealed the citizens not to become panic but to maintain precautions.

On Wednesday, Guwahati reported 15 COVID-19 positive cases. They were related to another COVID-19 patient Mungru Sahani who tested positive on Monday.

On the other hand, 7 cancer, heart patients and their attendants who had come to Guwahati from Mumbai tested COVID-19 positive on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Sarma infomed that samples of more than 340 people related to the 15 COVID-19 patients who were detected positive on Wednesday in Guwahati have been collected.

He further said that if a majority of these people test COVID-19 positive, then government will go for mobile network tracing to test more people.
