Buses carrying students, patients from Delhi and Chennai reach Guwahati

Amid COVID-19 pandemic, 6 buses carrying 163 Assam students from Delhi and another bus from Chennai with 24 cancer patients and their attendants reached Guwahati on Wednesday.

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with his deputy Pijush Hazarika received them at Sarusajai and discussed 14-day mandatory quarantine process and other precautions.

Talking to media persons, Sarma said, “The students from Delhi University have come by 6 buses. Fifty per cent cost of their journey have been borne by a Guwahati-based NGO and remaining fifty per cent by themselves. The boys will remain at Sarusajai and the girls will stay at hotels.”

The cancer patients and their attendants will be kept at Hotel Pragati Manor.
