Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that those entering the state through entry points in Srirampur in Kokrajhar district and Bakshirhat in Dhubri district will be directly brought to the quarantine facility in Guwahati’s Sarusajai Sports Complex.
Subsequent to this, samples will be collected and anyone showing symptoms would be sent for treatment. The rest will be sent to home quarantine.
Besides, the government has also booked hotels at concessional rates for those are returning from outside the state.
Sarma also said that around 1 lakh people will be returning to the state comprising of students, professionals, attendants of patients and other. He said that if necessary guidelines are not followed than there is a high risk that the cases of COVID-19 may multiply.
Meanwhile, Himanta Biswa Sarma further said that following of home quarantine norms will be strictly monitored.
