The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell of Cotton University in Guwahati distributed ration and other necessities to 64 needy families of Nijpanbari in Chandrapur, Kamrup district, a village adopted by the university under the UBA programme.

The joint coordinator of UBA Cell Dr Narayan Sharma accompanied by students Manub Talukdar and Dhiraj Das visited Nijpanbari to distribute the materials with due permission and full-fledged cooperation of the DSP (Admin), Guwahati amid COVID-19 lockdown.

The village head of Nijpanbari village Prasanta Ranghang made all arrangements with villagers maintaining social distancing and ASHA workers rendering full support by providing sanitizers and supervision. Helping hand was also extended by Ecosystem India.

On the other hand the faculty members of the university along with the coordinator of UBA Cell Dr. Sangeeta Barthakur played instrumental role in reaching out the poor and needy villagers.

The distributed packets contained rice, pulses, oil, salt, sugar, tea, potatoes, onions and pieces of soap.

Materials were also distributed to needy families of another village Chakardeo- Kalitapara adopted under UBA on 16th April, 2020 by Dr Narayan Sharma.

The University has adopted five villages and similar initiatives will be taken in the remaining three villages within the next few weeks.
