Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that no new positive cases of COVID-19 has been reported in the State in the last seven days.
“The situation of coronavirus in India is much better than in the world. A total of 5,789 people have been tested so far. The result of 214 people is still in the lab. This includes the results of the people of Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Nagaland,” said Sarma.
Sarma further stated that the State government has decided to conduct free COVID-19 tests for news reporters at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on April 25.
This comes after 53 scribes were tested positive for the deadly virus in Mumbai recently.
Meanwhile, in a relief to the common people, Sarma also informed that all private schools will be allowed to collect only 50 percent of the total fees for the month of March.
He added that there can be no hike in fees without the government’s consent and schools won’t be allowed to deduct salaries of teachers and staff.
