A total of 336 new COVID-19 positive cases has been reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of positive cases in the country to 2,301.
Notably, of the total positive cases, as many as 647 cases are due to the Tablighi Jamaat event at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi.
Nizamuddin Markaz related cases have been reported from as many as 14 States.
On the other hand, the death toll in the country now stands at 56. Of the 56 deaths, 12 deaths were reported yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Union Home Ministry has written to the State Governments to take strict action in cases of attack on healthcare and frontline workers and ensure security to medical fraternity.
The Home Ministry has introduced two more helpline numbers, one of which is dedicated to the Northeast.
