The number of people from Assam who attended the Tabligh-e-Jamaat congregation at Nizamuddin in Delhi has been found to be over 450.
The Assam Government has received another list of 157 persons from Assam who were near the hotspot at Nizamuddin Dargah. Earlier, the state government received a list of 299 persons who attended the religious event paying no heed to coronavirus concerns.
Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that as per latest information, as many as 456 people from Assam had taken part in the religious congregation. The numbers may rise, said Sarma as more information trickles in.
Sarma also informed that as many as 6-7 out of the 456 have reached Assam and the entire picture will be clear by tomorrow evening.
Significantly, the location and identity of all the individuals from Assam who had attended the religious gathering has been traced and the respective district administrations are on the job as far as contact tracing and paving way for quarantine is concerned.
Meanwhile, Assam chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that if any individual from the state who attended the religious congregation must come forward and disclose their details.
The Chief Minister urged such individuals to do this for the sake of the safety of the people.
