The first Cargo flight operated by Air India dropped essential items in Tripura capital Agartala on Saturday.

The Air India Cargo flight landed in Agartala carrying 77 cartons of essential items weighing close to 500 kg.

Supply chain is key at the moment, when the nation is under a 21-day lockdown.

Air India is operating special cargo flights to the Northeastern states to ensure constant supply of essential items.

It may be mentioned that DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh had informed yesterday that the Centre will send special chartered cargo flights to the Northeastern states carrying essential commodities.

The Minister had said that designated cargo flights for carrying essential commodities to North East have been planned.
