The government has issued Helpline Number and Helpline Email ID for addressing COVID-19 concerns. The World Health Organization has termed the new coronavirus outbreak a “pandemic”.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also directed that all workshops, seminars and conferences be cancelled until further notice in the wake of the Coronavirus threat.

Besides as a precautionary measure, all schools in Delhi apart from CBSE centres have been closed till March 31st, cinema halls too shall remain closed.

Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar apprised the Lok Sabha of the steps taken by the government in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

Jaishankar said the government is concerned about all the Indians stranded in any part of the world. He assured that the government will do its level best to bring back all the Indians safely.

The Delhi High Court asked the central government to contact the Indian students stranded in Iran in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The court asked the Centre to provide a positive plan regarding evacuation of Indian students stranded in Iran.

Meanwhile, the Government of India has suspended all tourist visas to the country in a bid to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country. The order will go into effect on March 13.

All existing visas issued to nationals of any country except those issued to Diplomats, Officials, UN and other International organizations and Employment and Project visas, stand suspended till April 15, the government wrote in an order tweeted by India’s Ministry of Health.

The decision was taken in the wake of the World Health Organization officially declaring the coronavirus outbreak a global pandemic earlier on Wednesday.
