Stepfather allegedly rapes, impregnates minor girl in Sikkim; accused sent to 15-day judicial custody

In a rather shameful incident that has come to light, a 39-year-old man from West Sikkim has been arrested by the police on the charges of allegedly raping and impregnating his 13-year-old step daughter.

The case came to light after the victim complained of sickness and was taken to a district hospital where she was tested positive for pregnancy.

Following this, the victim’s family lodged an FIR with the police and the accused was booked under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and section 6 of POCSO Act.

Meanwhile, the accused has been sent to a 15-day judicial custody and the case is under investigation.
