Amidst the row surrounding illegal mining and transportation of coal in Meghalaya, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday sent out a strong message saying that the government would fix responsibilities on Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police if they fail to act tough against the menace.

Tynsong added that the government has already issued stern directives to all the concerned authorities to deal with cases of illegal mining and transportation of coal.

The deputy chief minister’s reaction comes a day after Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma came out all guns blazing and alleged that the state government was facilitating illegal coal trade.
