KIYG Day 4: Haryana close on heels of Maharastra; Assam’s Gongutri Bordoloi cycles her way to Gold

On Day 4 of Khelo India Youth Games 2020, Maharashtra reclaimed the top spot in the standings by taking its tally of Gold medals to 17, 22 Silver and 37
On Day 4 of Khelo India Youth Games 2020, Maharashtra reclaimed the top spot in the standings by taking its tally of Gold medals to 17, 22 Silver and 37 Bronze taking their overall tally to an imposing 76 medals.
Close on the heels of Maharashtra, Haryana stood at the second spot in the medals tally with 17 Gold, followed by 16 Silver medals and 14 Bronze medals to their kitty.
Earlier in the day, Haryana had taken the top spot briefly with 13 Gold and 14 Silver medals. However, Maharastra came back to reclaim the top spot by adding two more gold medals to its tally earlier.
On the other hand, Delhi has 36 medals, standing third in the medals tally which includes 14 Gold, 7 Silver and 15 Bronze.
Among the Northeastern states, Hosts Assam has 13 medals in its kitty which includes 3 Gold, 5 Silver, followed by 5 Bronze and is placed 13th in the standings.
Gongutri Bordoloi from Nagaon district shone at the mega sporting spectacle as she clinched the second Gold for Assam in the 60-km Cycling event, while Chayanika Gogoi who hails from Sonitpur district bagged Bronze in the same category, on Monday.
Assam’s Hriday Hazarika won silver in the men’s U-21 10 m Air Rifle Shooting event. On the other hand, Salim Ansari grabbed bronze in the Judo-55 kg event.
Meanwhile, Judo player Dharitri Sonowal won the silver in Girl’s Under-17 63 kg event today.
Earlier, in the Judo event, Puja Basumatary won the first Gold for Hosts Assam in the Under-17 Girls 57 kg category on Sunday.
Tripura is thus far placed 10th in the standings with medals under their belt which includes 4 Gold and 1 Silver.
For ‘sports mad’ state Manipur, K Bishal Singh won Gold in the U-17 Boys 73 kg category. Manipur is placed 9th in the standings with 14 medals to their kitty as they won their first Gold in Khelo India on Sunday.
