In a big revelation, Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga on Monday said that over 34,000 Bru refugees who were supposed to be repatriated to Mizoram will now be resettled in Tripura.
The Chief Minister said that he will have a meeting with his Tripura counterpart Biplab Deb in New Delhi on January 16, under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to bring an end to the 22-year-old impasse.
It may be mentioned that the Bru repatriation process which was supposed to begin on October 1, 2019 never really took off, after the Brus refused to move unless all their demands are met.
