Man-elephant conflict has once again risen its ugly head in Assam, with wild jumbos raiding a human settlement in Goalpara district on Friday night.

The incident has been reported from Asampara, where two wild elephants attacked and damaged a local school including an Anganwadi centre. The jumbos also destroyed the kitchen of the Anganwadi centre and consumed the stored food items, while searching for food.

Meanwhile, it is being alleged that the forest department officials did not turn up till next morning, even after the locals informed the forest officials during the night of the incident.
