Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday said that his government assisted by the police is making relentless efforts to curb down entry of illegal migrants into the state.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday said that his government assisted by the police is making relentless efforts to curb down entry of illegal migrants into the state.

Replying to a query by Congress MLA Surajkumar Okram, N Biren Singh during the ongoing winter session of the assembly informed that intensive checking is being carried out at various entry points of the state.

The Chief Minister also informed that documents of every tourist including others are being verified before their entry into the state.

Besides, Chief Minister N Biren Singh also informed that a total of 3369 suspected illegal migrants have been pushed back since 2017 till December 15, 2019 when they tried to enter the state.

Earlier, on Wednesday the Manipur Chief Minister said that the ILP system would be fully implemented in the state by January 1, 2020.
