Curfew has been relaxed in Shillong for 9 hours from 10 am till 7 pm even as section 144 remains imposed in the city.
Situation had escalated in Shillong on Saturday after hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Raj Bhavan forcing the police to resort to tear gas shelling and mild lathi-charge to control the situation.
The anti Citizenship Amendment Act protest took an ugly turn when protesters clashed with police outside the Raj Bhavan leading to injuries to over 60 people including 5 police personnel.
Trouble started when some protesters started pelting stones at the security personnel deputed at the gate of the Raj Bhavan.
