NorthEast United Football Club is all set to play their first match of the sixth edition of Indian Super League 2019-20 against Defending Champions Bengaluru Football Club today.

Shree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru will host the much anticipated match at 7:30 PM on Monday.

Former Croatian Youth National Coach and Croatian World Cup bronze medalist, Robert Jarni has stepped into the shoes as the NEUFC head coach for the sixth season of the ISL.

Exuding confidence Head Coach Jarni of the ‘Boot Jolokia Fire’ Boys said that the team is fully prepared to give their best shot against Bengaluru FC today.

Jarni said NEUFC will play with a positive spirit even though Bengaluru FC is going to receive a lot of support from the city’s football fans thronging the stadium.

He said that the NEUFC team is currently not facing any problem and each player of the team is eager to take the football field by storm in today’s match.

It needs to be mentioned that the Blues registered a come-from-behind win against NorthEast United FC in the two-legged playoff en route the final in 2018-19.

This year, most of the leading football players of Bengaluru FC like Talismanic striker Sunil Chetri and Udanta Singh had to remain busy with Indian football team too and had to divide their time among both the teams.

The ‘Boot Jolokia Fire’ side has been boosted by signing formidable players such as Asamoah Gyan, and will be looking to go one step further this season. It is to be mentioned that no side has been able to retain the ISL crown.
