Additional SP, Narcotics and Affairs of Border from Manipur, Thounaojam Brinda was honoured with ‘Best Performance Officer’ award on the occasion of Movement Against Smuggled and Counterfeit Trade organized by apex industrial committee Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi.

She was awarded for her outstanding performance in busting several drug cartels in the state of Manipur. She was the only officer from Northeast who got selected out of 17 best performing officers from across the country.

Over the last one year, Brinda not only busted several drug monopolies, but also managed to arrest many powerful drug lords including high ranking police officers, and politicians among others.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Brinda Thounaojam expressed her gratitude at having received the award and thanked the Government of Manipur, especially Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with civil societies for their support in the struggle against eradicating drug menace from the state.

Brinda was conferred the Gallantry Medal in 2018 and Chief Minister’s Commendation Certificate earlier this year for her contribution in curbing counterfeiting and smuggling activities from the state.
