A day after announcing the closure of his club, the United Sikkim Football Club, former India captain and football legend Bhaichung Bhutia has termed the skipping of the Santosh trophy as the darkest day for Sikkim football.
With this move to boycott Santosh Trophy Sikkim misses the opportunity to showcase the young football talent in the state, Bhutia said.
Earlier, this month newly formed Football Players Association of Sikkim led by footballer Nirmal Chettri had decided to boycott the Santosh Trophy stating that the players are extremely dissatisfied with the affairs of Sikkim Football.
